Homestays Program

None of us could have predicted the devastation inflected on our diocese and throughout the state of Florida by hurricane Irma. Many of our fellow parishioners evacuated out of town or to shelters and came back to find they had lost everything. Those who came through the storm relatively unscathed realize that they too could have easily been one of the less fortunate. This is the time for all of us to reach out in the name of our Lord and show His compassion to our brothers and sisters in Christ.

The Diocesan office is coordinating Homestays for those in need of immediate housing. We are looking for parishioners who are willing to open their guest rooms to someone less fortunate. We are also looking for those in need to come forward and accept the offer. If you know of someone in need of housing please reach out to them and make the offer. Even if you cannot host them we can match them up with someone who can. Host homes will be asked to fill out a registration form which will detail the availability of the home, restrictions, rooms, and other details. Funding is available through the Anglican Relief and Development Fund for host homes to help offset the expense of providing shelter and food to your guests. Hosts will be given information on funding once their registration is processed. Guests will also fill out a registration form so we can match their needs with a compatible host home. The idea is to reach out as Jesus taught us to do, to provide support, comfort and compassion to those in need. It is through His grace that we have the ability and the resources to help each other. This is our opportunity to display the true compassion of Christ and to be a visible example of His mercy and love.

A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another. By This all men Will Know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.
